Driving Tests
When your driving instructor says you are ready you need to take two tests. First you take a Driving Theory Test, then you need to take a Practical Driving Test.
Study for your Theory Test
First you must take your theory test. Buy yourself the official 'DSA Theory Test for Car Drivers' book from a bookshop. You can use this book to study for your theory test.
Ask your driving instructor...
Ask your driving instructor the name of your nearest theory test centre and the name of your nearest practical test centre.
Book Your Theory Test
Now you need to book your theory test. You can do this by visiting the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) website using the link below.
Take Your Theory Test
Now you need to pass your driving theory test. Once you have passed your theory test you will be allowed to take your practical driving test.
Book Your Practical Test
If your driving instructor says you are ready, you need to book your practical driving test. You can book your practical driving test online using the link below to the DSA website.
Take your Practical Test
Go to your test centre and take your practical driving test.
Pass your driving test
Once you have passed your driving test, you are ready to start driving! Time to think about your car.
Get your driving licence
When you have passed your driving test you can send off for your driving licence. Your driving licence is a photocard that looks like this. Your driving instructor will tell you how to get your licence.
